Contest 66: Devils Dream

Welcome to Contest 66: Devils Dream. You must have the latest patch in order to play this contest. The link to the patch is on our rules page. Use the links below to download the starting positions:

Devils Dream - Easy
Devils Dream - Hard
files are in zip format

After downloading, simply unzip the file and ions. When prompted, choose to extract the files to the directory in which Emperor.exe is located (by default C:\Sierra\EmperorROTMK\).

Competitors are reminded that the normal CBC General Rules apply to this contest.

Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level of difficulty. You can select the difficulty from the game loading screen.

Story

The Emperor at Kaifung has sent you south to begin settling new areas, as the Yellow River Valley has become more agrarian. It is your mission to build a fine new city to attract the elite citizens from Kaifung. You must also conquer as many rebellious cities as possible in your ten year tour of duty! Be sure to save your game in December of year 490, and allow enough time for the save to be read. The Emperor requires at least 2 unruly cities to be under your peaceful control or you dare not return to court!

Conquer as many rebellious cities as possible! You have 10 years to accomplish this goal.

Rules

All entries must meet the following completion criteria at the time of submission:

Completion Criteria

  • Rule 2 cities (or more) without them being in revolt
  • You must not be a vassal yourself, other than your relationship with your Emperor at Kaifung.
  • Your army(ies) must have returned

All valid entries will then be separated according to the following winning criteria:

  1. Rule most cities by December, year 490
  2. Most Soldiers
  3. Most stored weapons

Designer's Notes

You may make only make 1 request per city per month. You may not request a good that the city does not produce. Make yearly saves. The housing population requirement is not achievable, and is used to prevent an early "win." You may not break your alliance with your Emperor. The relationship with all your conquered cities must be congenial, which means they must not be in revolt against your rule.

The differences between easy and hard is in starting money. The map for "easy" also has fewer plateaus and will allow for more development.

You may send your game at any time before the end of the time period. You might benefit from waiting for your soldiers to come home and to replentish the fort with fresh troops.

Devils Dream was developed by JuliaSet and Lady Mags. It was beta tested by Lady Mags, JavaPlains, and Islonian. CBC sends thanks for their help.

This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Tuesday, November 30th. Please note the date!!!!

This contest has ended.
