Contest 114: The Battle of Salamis, (A Military Contest for Cleopatra)

To download the mission, simply click the appropriate link. The file you receive will be in a zipped format. After downloading, decompress the file (using, e.g. PowerArchiver or Winzip). You can get Winzip free from their website at www.winzip.com.

Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level of difficulty. Select Options, Difficulty and check it. If necessary adjust the difficulty, select new game and reselect the The Battle of Salamis' saved game. Now you can play.

The Story

Defeatism was in the air, several commanders walked out of the council meeting and hoisted sail for immediate flight, there was talk of retreat, but Themistocles persuaded the rest of the council that to fight in the Salamis channel would give the Greeks the advantage they needed. In a confined space tactics were more important than numbers or speed, all of Greece stands on a razors edge and you must defeat the invaders at Salamis or all of Greece will fall.

Culture 40
Prosperity 40
Kingdom 50
Population 2000

Winning Criteria:

Survive for the longest time.
If you survive to dec 304BC save your game and the most weapons in storage, as announced by the overseer of commerce, becomes the winning criteria.

Designer's Advice

A completion criteria of 99 palatial estates is there merely to prevent the victory screen appearing/

A price increase for oil occurs each December to remind you to save your game.
