According to the list on the French Forum, requests for basic good, such as raw silk and raw jade, are allowed, you only cannot ask for goods that you are supposed to store. You are allowed, however, to accept any offers made by a city donating you these goods.

How about the other rules; at CBC the monthly number of requests is limited, and you can only request the good they sell (IIRC). Anyhow, what are the rules for this contest?

I also asked about the military, bribing or surrendering is disallowed, but how about features associated with invasions? Moreover, if I have no troops at all, I am defeated by default, is that allowed, I don't see it is forbidden, or does a defeat in a battle automatically invalidate the submission?

Is there a general banned and allowed feature list for the contest, or do we discuss it separately for each map?

BTW: what kind of a party are they throwing, if they need weapons and stones for it, and a whole storage yard full of each!

- You are not allowed TO REQUEST Silk, Lacquerware, Carved jade, Salt, Arms, Stones and Spices but you can ACCEPT any offers, that's right
- The monthly number of requests is not limited
- In case of ennemy attack, you MUST DEFEND your city and not bribe the ennemy (with money) or capitulate !!! This objective implies that you can't "have no troops at all", and that a "defeat in a battle automatically invalidate the submission".

These "rules" are for this contest only and may change for the next contest.

And that's the Emperor who requires those goods.

Seemed simple enough to me in contest 20. I decided NOT to build any military but rather ally all cities.

Don't know how this will work out for contest 21 since there is a remark in the briefing "Do not neglect to train some troops because ennemies are never far from your city". I interpret it as building military forts are OPTIONAL if I can't avoid an invasion.

The '4 trade partner' rule may curb excessive use of 'goods requests' especually if I wanted to NOT build military forts.

Otto's contests are more open to discussion though revealing your score is still a 'NOoNOo'. I don't think anyone has been 'shushed' for asking about or providing general play tips.

BTW: What difficulty level will joshofet be playing?

I have made a CBC upload for the CBC players. They can either email the save to you, or upload it to the CBC submit area.

The CBC folks have not registered at the forum threads for a long time. I know that it is a good idea to say you are playing, so that the designer can send a notice if there are changes to the rules or the upload.

Hey guys, please post in here if you are working with the Emperor contest?? It is a lot of work for Otto to do the translations and to bridge both sites. At least we can do is to sign up and let him know you are working on the contest.

If players post here to "register" for this contest it will be better, anyway, all entries will count for the results.

I've dug out the Emperor disk; discovered it wouldn't work because of my new firewall. So I've changed firewall software. Now I need to find some more time and I should be able to submit an entry.

Otto, the Grand Emperor is an extremely peaceful soul. I haven't looked at your map as yet but it sounds like it has military.

I did, haven't seen invasions yet. Maybe I'm impatient, with reason in a speed contest I guess. Can we discuss strategy on this one?
