Default Messages Through AD5 and initial thoughts...

Since it appears we will need to build the Pyramid at least through the year AD5 (due to Plain Stone Import limitations), I decided to just let the save run for that period of time to see what happens.

Here is what I found so far:

AD0
Aug - Invasion
Sep - Invasion

AD1
Mar - 2 Invasions
Sep - 3 Invasions
Oct - Request: Jericho - 800 Beer - 6 Months

AD2
Apr - Invasion
Apr - Beer to Jericho - 24 month extension

AD3
Jan - Invasion
Feb - 3 Invasions
Oct - Famine: Abu - 2400 Pomegranates - 6 months

AD4
Mar - Tempests: No Water Trade for x Months
Apr - Construction: Rostja - 16 Granite - 12 months
Apr - Pomegranates to Abu - 24 month extension
Oct - 6 month reminder for Granite

AD5
Jan - Request: Menat Khufu - 1600 Pottery - 12 months
Mar - Request: Jericho - 1200 Beer - 6 months
Apr - Granite to Rostja - 24 month extension
May - Invasion
Jun - Raises: from 30 to 34
Jul - Pottery to Menat Khufu - 24 month extension
Sep - Beer to Jericho - 24 month extension

Floods were: Perfect (x2), Good, Perfect (x2), Excellent - in that order.

City ran out of money in Mar AD0 and into Debt in Sep AD0. Cash was about -10,000 by Jan AD6.

Every November the price for Beer drops 5, which means it is down from 120 to 95 in AD5.

With the trade hit in AD4, this may mean lower profit in "Previous" year if we max out the time for the pyramid. But beer, our biggest & initially most expensive export drops enough to make delaying longer cost more each year as well.

The file starts with invading forces already on the map, and they are strong enough to wipe out the infantry we have. There are no import opprotunities for weapons other than Chariots.

Chariots do not count for final score, and are expensive to import. Plus I don't think they will be all that useful. All invasions occured at the forts area and can easily be fended off (for the most part) with towers. That, or after enough time goes by they simply leave.

The setup for the housing is interesting...It uses forced walkers for almost everything, but it is by no means an effective use of space. Problem is, how much is worth tearing down/re-building?

There is one trading dock already setup, but it is in about the worst place for ship movement, delaying trade speed. There is one spot on the fort island that we could move it, but then trade would be susceptible to foriegn armies attacks.

We can import more raw materials than we can export for the finished goods, which can be a good thing from a micromanagement point of view. (It requires a little less...)

I have not yet looked into the effects of meeting demands, or of pleasing the Gods, except to verify that the Temple Complex to Osiris can be built and that the Altar to Sebek and the Oracle of Min becomes available.

So, the remaining questions:

1. Should we delay Pyramid completion to possibly get a higher Profit in AD5, due to missed trade in AD4?
2. How high can we get the Kingdom Rating?
3. How high can we get the Prosperity Rating?
4. How can we get replacement infantry?
5. Should we move the Dock?
6. Do we need/should we bother with the Temple Complex?

Why did I immediately have the thought that if you have a force of soldiers at the entry point of the invasion, the invasion just turns around and goes home? Am I high?

I think you are thinking of one of the permitted features of Ceasar III. If an army is at the invasion point, the invaders can be killed offscreen.

3. How high can we get the Prosperity Rating?
Unless some luxury goods appear in the game, the highest possible level for housing in fancy residence, which gives a maximum prosperity of 90 if we can get all the houses to that level.

If you fulfill the first request from Jehrico, you will get a gift of 800 wood. Another request for 1200 beer will appear the next year, and fulfilling it gives you another load of 800 wood, which I think is enough for the pyramid.

Interesting observation about fishing. If you place a bridge over to the island where the pyramid will go, the fishing boats must travel all the way around the main island to get to the fishing ground. This implies either 1) checking if a ferry can be used instead, 2) building more wharf to help speed up fishing, or 3) stockpiling the fish and feeding the people pomegranate until the second food type is needed for housing evolution.

Krclark, did you ever get a request for any troops? if not, perhaps we can delete the transport wharfs to make room for more fishing wharfs

No requests for troops as of Jan AD6.

I think the fishing wharves are on the wrong side of the island. They travel too far to get to the fishing grounds anyway. They probably need to go on the opposite side.

Also, notice that one of the storage yards has 200 wood in it? We start out set to stockpile that. If you stop stockpiling, then you get the transport wharves...Most likely this comes into play later, and based on how difficult the last map was it will probably will be a request for sending Chariots to someone :P .

OK, so Prosperity of 90 can be reached, but that would require some extra years. Again, building the pyramid as fast as possible would limit our scores here... :?

It is beginning to look like we should hold off on speed of the pyramid, as it is only one part of the overall score, and concentrate on the other criteria. But the longer we hold off, the less overall possible profit due to dramitc drop in the price of beer.

Tonight I will probably crunch some numbers to see how big a difference this can make.

Hi,

In my first quick try I used cheats and run the game until AD6. I managed to fulfill all requests and my messages are different than the ones krclark reported above. The invasions and all other are the same, but the requests are different. I got the following messages (for requests only):

1. AD1 October - 800 Beer for 6 months
2. AD3 April - 1200 Beer for 6 months
3. AD3 October - 24000 Pomegranates for 6 months
4. AD4 April - 16 Granite for 12 months
5. AD4 September - 16 Plain stone for 6 months
6. AD4 November - 1200 Papyrus for 6 months
7. AD5 January - 1600 Pottery for 12 months
8. AD5 October - troops for Distant battle for 6 months

I am not sure yet if all these requests are preset, triggered or random.

IKO,

It looks like you got additional requests that were triggered because you met the original requests. I figured something like this might happen, just did not have time to check out results of meeting the requests.

The important question is: What did you receive for meeting each of the requests?

I can tell you for the first two requests for beer, you will get 800 wood each time. For supplying the pomegranates, you receive 10 Kingdom Rating points. Beyond that, I will try to find out tonight if I have time at work in the wee hours of the night.

Iko, was the troop request for land troops or waterborne troops? I'm still curious if we need those two transport wharves at all.

Iceman413,

The request was for land troops. I send 1 infantry soldier only and it was enough - I got 10 points KR rise!
