Hi there,
this forum is a good idea andmight be useful for German players I think, though I'm not sure if it was a good idea of me writing in English here. I can understand German but writing is too hard for me.
After the closing of ICU (http://www.i-challengeu.com/main/) currently there are twosites wich run contests. One is CBC (http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/) and the other is Heaven Games (http://caesar3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/caeforumscgi/display.cgi?action=t&fn=27).
As Koppi mentioned contestrequire a different kind playing. To gain advantage against others you need to know some game features wich arent so often used in ordinary maps.
Both contest sites have smillar lists of game features and before joining a competition it is advised the player reads these pages first. The links below are CBC's game features/rules pages in German and HG has a smillar list.
<A title="" href="http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/ger_rules_c3.html" target=_self>Caesar 3 Spielbesonderheiten
</A>Pharao & Kleopatra Spielbesonderheiten (http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/ger_rules_ph_cleo.html)
Zeus & Poseidon Spielbesonderheiten (http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/ger_rules_z_p.html)
Allgemeine Wettbewerbsregeln (http://www.citybuildingcontests.net/rules_ger.html)
For new Caesar3 competitors exceptreading thesepages I would like to suggest some tutorial maps wich I have specially designed lately to help new contest players to understandsome game features. Advanced Caesar3 Tutorials can be foundhere (http://www.geocities.com/caesar_jan/cp_tutorials.html)and here (http://home.tiscali.nl/ancientcitybuilding/advanced_tutorials.htm)in English or here (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/cesar.3/telechargemenx.html)in French. Anyone who wants to translate the text files to German and show the maps ontheir own site can do so.
I have heard that most German players know English and a German translationfor contest pages might be not neccesary. What is your opinion Koppi?
