Shrines and Temples

Shrines are small monuments dedicated to a specific god. They do not require direct road access but must be within two tiles of a road. They do not require labor and produce no walkers. A shrine can effectively reach 375
citizens if it is dedicated to a local deity. Patron deities demand more, so each shrine to a patron deity can serve only 180 people.

Temples are larger structures and provide a greater benefit to your city. They require road access and employ a staff of priests. When a temple is functioning, you will see priests bringing religion to your people. Like shrines, temples are dedicated to a specific god, and each temple's effects depend upon whether it is dedicated to a local or patron god. Temples dedicated to a local god reach 750 people; those dedicated to a patron god reach 375 people.
