21.162
88 prosperity = 13200
5800 population = 5800 arch = 1000 113 wine = 565 136 oil = 544 9 furniture = 18 35 pottery = 35 As I have described in another thread, I used around 140 2x2 small tents that were evolved each December according to the needed prosperity cap and devolved back in January; so they needed only two or three months of food. Later, when most small tents were already full with 20 inhabitants, each evolving to higher housing triggered off a new immigration wave in order to fill up the new vacancies. This fill-up immigration was lost in most years, because when the immigrants arrived in September/October the houses were small tents long again. However, in AD 7 and AD 8 the houses had stored enough food so I could evolve them earlier and for longer time. The year 7 fill-up immigration arrived in Jul/Aug/Sep 8 and together with births the houses had 25 or 26 inhabitants In Jan 9. I devolved the houses back to small tents for a short time and catched the thrown-out homeless with new housing lots. In Apr 9 the next wave of fill-up immigrants arrived and I let the houses in the evolved state from then on; some houses run out of food and devolved to large tents, which wasn't a problem because this was still enough to hold the average 24 inhabitants. Besides that, I built a lot of 1x1 housing lots in Jan/Feb/Mar of AD 8 and AD 9. The fill-up immigration waves were timed in a way that they didn't interfere with this normal immigration. I deleted 170+ tents in Dec 8 and rebuilt them in Jan 9 to keep prosperity up. Homeless don't lower immigration if enough empty lots exist. The last months were a bit frustrating. I hit the walker sprite limits in Aug 9 and couldn't convert my save into the PC format anymore. My originally score was 21314. Ok, I deleted some forts and lowered immigration, so, at least, the result is loadable on a PC. |

Well done, CJ! No chance I've got time for that stratagy now. I think I could get 1000 more to get me to 17,000. But its too late now. Did you not even bother with a Senate for taxation? as you had money problems. Also 140 Small tents? how many blocks did you use? At least 6? I assume you used Philon's Rich tent stratagy. Since Philon is on another team, my guess they will all use it on his team. And I was gonna start thinking about the Pharaoh contest tonight :?

I collected taxes from my 9 Medium Palaces; sometimes the tax rate was set to 25% for a short moment at the end of a month. In the last two years I had about 8000 Dn tax income and this - along with Neptune blessings in AD 6, 7, and 8 - solved my money problems.
The 140 tents were organized in 5 long roads with 25 - 30 tents each, not in closed blocks. These roads led to the wheat granary in the middle of the original road through the plain; every road had a chariot maker at the end for entertainment. The imminent walker sprite limit makes the mass tent strategy less appealing than I thought at first. A fluent stream of ten months of immigration means already 480 immigrant carts on the map, next to service people, citizens, 96 soldiers, 50+ natives, 30+ wolves, enemy soldiers etc.; this is not far way from the 1000 walkers limit. Maybe, if I find some time, I will give it a quick try just out of interest. |
