Submitting entries
As a few people have had problems submitting entries recently, I thought I'd make a short post explaining how the upload script processes files, and walking you through how to name your file for submission.
The most important thing to remember is that the upload script is, of necessity, quite dumb. It's expecting your files to be named in a certain way, and if they're not, then it most likely won't accept them. As well as checking things like the filetype, the script also counts the number of underscore ('_') characters in the filename. Your upload will only be accepted if there are exactly three underscores in the filename (no more, no less). To name your file: 1. Begin with your username. If your username contains spaces or underscores, then remove them. For clarity, it often helps to use capital letters where the spaces might have been (for example, I would use CaesarAlan as the first part of my entry). 2. Add an underscore. 3. Add the contest name. Again, remove any spaces from the contest name (so, for example, Lord of the West becomes LordoftheWest). 4. Add an underscore. 5. Add the difficulty level at which you competed. 6. Add an underscore 7. Add a number (for your first entry, use 1, for your second, 2, and so forth). I hope this is useful to people, Alan |
