Story

After crossing the Jordan, Joshua led the Israelites into Canaan where they laid siege to the city of Jericho. The Lord spoke to Joshua telling him to march around the city once every day for six days with the seven priests carrying ram's horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day they were to march around the city seven times and the priests were to blow their ram's horns.

This Joshua did, and he commanded his people not to give a war-cry until he told them to do so. On the seventh day, after marching around the city the seventh time, the priests sounded their ram's horns, and Joshua ordered the people to shout. The walls of the city collapsed, and the Israelites were able to charge straight into the city. The city was completely destroyed, and every man, woman, and child in it was killed. Only Rahab and her family were spared, because she had hid the two spies sent by Joshua. After this Joshua burned the remains of the city and cursed any man who would rebuild the city of Jericho at the cost of his firstborn son.

Rules

Completion Criteria:

Culture Rating: 30
Kingdom Rating: 40
Population: 2000

The in-game criteria of 999 Palatial Estates is purely to prevent the victory screen appearing.

Winning Criteria:
Survive as long as you can, if you survive to Dec 10 AD then save your game and the second winning criteria takes effect.

In the case of a tie the second winning criteria of the number of surviving infantry will decide the contest.

In the case that the first two criteria are tied then the contest will be decided by the combined scores for the culture and kingdom ratings.

Designer's Notes

A price rise for granite occurs each December, this is to remind you to save your game and serves no other purpose.

This is an intense military experience and not for the faint hearted, if you manage to reach the concluding year of 10AD then you should be very pleased with yourself, but if you don't, then don't be surprised, this is a battle for survival and you will be lucky to survive the first battle. Send in your entry at any time with the completion criteria met, others will be having the same difficulties as you: the walls will fall in time.

During testing I used multiple recruiters and free wall, therefore it is only fair that I allow you to do the same.

Multiple recruiters and free walls are allowed in this competition.

Walls of Jericho is a Pharaoh map that can be played with Cleo as well. Happy gaming!

This was a contest brought to you in StringyVision, my thanks to Lady Mags and Rob Roy for their contribution in testing.

This contest will close at 11PM EST (US), on Thursday, January First, 2009. Please note the date!!!!

This contest has ended.
