Contest 63: Mt. Cithaeron, a Poseidon - Military Contest

Welcome to the contest pages for Contest 63: Mt. Cithaeron. This is a Poseidon contest, and should only be played with Poseidon V2.1. You will not be able to play this contest with Zeus V1.x. Use the links below to download the starting positions and the optional audio add-ons:

Mt Cithaeron (Titan Difficulty)
Mt Cithaeron (Mortal Difficulty)
files are in an executable format

After downloading, players should run the executable, and follow the on screen instructions. When prompted, choose to extract the archive to the directory in which Zeus.exe is located (by default C:\Impressions Games\Zeus).

Story

Atlantis, as seems always to be the case, is running short of minerals - bronze, orichalc, and both white and black marble. Tales have been heard of immensely rich deposits of these minerals at a place in North Africa called Mount Cithaeron, the site of a long abandoned Centaur city.

King Hippodamus of Atlantis has chosen you to establish an Atlantean outpost at this location to obtain minerals for Atlantis' buildings, monuments, and armies. Your task will not be easy. Due to the distance from Atlantis, trade ships will visit occasionally but no other support from the homeland can be expected after the initial colonization. You may be able to request some assistance from other friendly peoples of the region.

Beware the Centaurs, however. It is said that the Centaurs may view the location as hallowed or sacred ground and they may resent your attempts to build a city there.

Rules

All entries must meet the following completion criteria at the time of submission:All general Poseidon rules apply to this contest. In addition:

BRIBING OF INVADERS IS NOT PERMITTED
Bribe cannot be turned off and you will be presented the option to bribe should you have enough money to do so. However, your game will be reviewed to see if a bribe has been employed and if you have used the bribe feature, your game will be deemed an invalid entry.

Completion Criteria:

  • Sanctuary to any god
  • Major Shrine to Poseidon
  • Support 2 Triremes
  • 32 ingots of oricalc for colony

All requirements set forth on the introductory screen must be completed except for the trade partner goal which cannot be met and is there to prevent premature victory.
