Story

"The Emperor has been detained at the senate, and so it falls to I, Marcus Nivis, Commander of the Imperial Guard, to brief you.

For many months I have been charged with investigating a secret society calling themselves The Stonecutters. The beginnings of the society are humble enough: a small group of stonemasons established it here in Roma over ten years ago. Now, they number in the thousands, and control the whole of the Marble trade in the Western half of the Empire.

As you are doubtless aware, the Emperor has recently begun a huge programme of refurbishment to the Circus Maximus, and he plans to make improvements to a number of other key buildings here in Roma. This morning we received information that the Stonecutters plan to sabotage these projects by holding up vital marble deliveries from Palestine.

Your task is to found a mining colony at Leptis Magna, to supply us here in Roma with enough marble to continue building while we deal with the leaders of the Stonecutters.

The Stonecutters are well-armed and well-informed. Should they learn of your mission, they will crush you without hesitation. Your only hope of success lies in secrecy. Keep your settlement small and you may escape notice... "
