Story

Caesar has summoned you to complete the most extraordinary monument ever built in the Roman Empire. Engineers have been working relentlessly on a huge amphitheater. First they constructed the plateau by piling stones and rocks and finish it off with a layer of mud. Then they made access stairways on regular intervals and long corridors. The last thing they have added was the central stage, where all entertainers are trained and plays are conducted at regular intervals.

Now, it is time to finish this monument by providing it with the audience it deserves. Make sure this theater is filled permanently with a large and contented population and give them time to enjoy the performances; they should not work all the time. It must become a monument for the cultural richness of the Roman Empire.

Rules

CC1: Cultural Rating 100
CC2: People should at least be happy

WC1: Highest number of points; points are awarded in the following categories:

  • Size of the audience (population); highest number is awarded 10 points, other entries are scaled to this maximum - score = population*10/maximum population.
  • Percentage of non-workers: highest percentage (= 1 - (number of workers/population) * 100%) is awarded 10 points, other entries are scaled to this maximum - percentage*10/maximum percentage.
  • Layout/design of the city, use of beautification buildings, etc. and the stability of the city during free run (changes in housing level, population size, happiness of the people, etc.). A maximum of 40 points will be awarded.
  • Coverage of entertainment facilities: 10 points for each of the four types of entertainment, in total you can earn 40 points. The coverage will be established by counting the amount of houses visited by a specific type of entertainment walker divided by the total number of houses in the city (Note that this is different from the coverage indicated by the overseer).

Designer's Notes

On the map, you'll find one of each type of entertainment schools. They are located on the central island (the stage). These are the only schools you can use as these buildings are disabled on the control panel. It is allowed to delete them, but then you will have to do without their services.
Of course you can build as many Theaters, Amphitheaters, Coliseums and Hippodromes as you want.

The number of events is limited. You will get some requests of Caesar and on "hard" Rome's wages will fluctuate in time.

This scenario has no time limit. It may be saved at any time you like, as long as you fulfill the CC's.
There is a population demand of 99.999 to prevent a premature victory.

Competitors are reminded that the normal CBC General Rules apply to this contest. Competitors are also advised to peruse the list of Caesar3 Game Features.

Remember to save your game every December. These annual saves should not be submitted with your entry, but must be made available if requested.

Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level of difficulty. Select Options, Difficulty and check it. If necessary adjust the difficulty, select new game and reselect Live On Stage saved game. Now you can play.

This contest was designed by Henrium and beta tested by Joshofet. Our thanks to them for their time and talents!
