"A new era dawned for Egypt after the Hyksos had been expelled. This period, the New Kingdom, was the age of empire. The once-peaceful Egyptians, having learned new techniques of warfare, embarked on foreign conquest on a large scale. The empire reached its peak under Thutmose III under the regency of his Aunt, Hatshepsut He fought many campaigns in Asia and extended Egypt's rule to the Euphrates.

Slaves and tribute poured into Egypt from the conquered nations. The tribute was paid in goods, for the ancient world still did not have money. Wall paintings show people from Nubia, Babylon, Syria, and Palestine bearing presents on their backs and bowing humbly before the pharaoh. "

It was said that this land lies far to the south on the farthest shores of the Great Green (the Red Sea in modern times).

Here, it was said, grew the mythical aromatic woods called Tyshepses and Khesyt and the green gold of Amu and where spices and incense were abundant; where baboons and dogs and panthers provide skins and where the precious Antyu tree and Myrrh tree grows that will be needed for the gardens of the temple to Amen that you will build.

Double Crown Contest: Designers' Advice

Beta Testers for the Double Crown are: Lady Mags, Robroy, and JuliaSet.

For deciding a tie for the Double Crown, the rank of the finals will decide the outcome. For example if Mary won White Crown Hard, but she came in third for Red Crown Hard, and if Joe placed second in both, but the totals charioteers and saved chariots are the same for each player, and their prosperity was the same, then Mary would win as she placed first for one game.

This contest closes Wednesday, February 25th, at 11 PM EST, 2004.
This contest has ended.
Good luck and have fun!
