Contest 31: Refugee Camp: Introduction

Welcome to the contest pages for Contest 31: Refugee Camp
This is a Pharaoh game which was created in Cleopatra; it can be played only with Cleopatra! Competitors are reminded that the normal CBC General Rules apply to this contest. Competitors are also advised to peruse the list of Pharaoh/Cleopatra game features.

To download the mission, simply click the appropriate link. The file you receive will be in a zipped format. After downloading, decompress the file (using, e.g. PowerArchiver or Winzip). You can get Winzip free from their website at www.winzip.com.

Then place the unzipped file in your family save directory (in the Pharaoh root directory, Save, [YourFamilyName]; by default C:\Sierra\Pharaoh\Save\[YourFamilyName]\).

To play the game, start Pharoah/Cleopatra, go to your family, and select "Load Saved Game". You will find Refugee Camp Easy or Refugee Camp Hard as a saved game. It should be preset at the correct difficulty level, which is Easy or Hard.

Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level of difficulty. Select Options, Difficulty and check it. If necessary adjust the difficulty, select new game and reselect the Refugee Camp saved game. Now you can play.

All players are advised to peruse the remainder of the contest pages (links to which can be found at the foot of the page), as well as the General Rules and Pharaoh/Cleopatra game features.

Refugee Camp: The Story

The Western side of Sawu has been chosen for for the housing of the many refugees expected from the desert regions. How many can be housed fed and kept occupied is an unknown factor, only you can answer that question.

Build a palace for yourself and your family so that you, as overseer, can be seen as a lofty and important personage.

Refugee Camp: Contest Rules

First, competitors are reminded that the normal CBC General Contest Rules apply to this contest. Competitors are also advised to peruse the list of Pharaoh/Cleopatra game features. A price increase for sandstone will remind you to save your game every December. Please retain these saves in case they are requested.

You may submit a saved game at any time when not in debt and all CC's are met.

Please check the Forum for news about the new game features.

The mission goals (minimum values) to be met in your entry are:

1. Culture 50
2. Favour 50
3. Prosperity 100
4. Palatial Estate


The valid entries will then be ranked according to the following winning criteria:

1: Population. (highest wins)
2: Greatest Treasury (highest wins)

Refugee Camp: Designers' Advice

You may submit your entry at any time when the completed criteria are met.

You are also required to make an annual save every December. A price increase for marble will remind you to save your game every December. Please retain these saves in case they are requested. You do not have to submit these annual saves with your entry, but should make them available upon request.
