Impressions Cup: Contest RulesThe Impressions Cup will be presented in two parts. The first part will end on Sunday April 25th. The second part will resume after a few months rest. During the first part of our contest, participants will be polled for their preferred date of resuming the cup. (August or September) In total the CUP will consists of 24 maps, divided over 6 CB-games and 4 categories, in two classes (hard & easy) to be played in two two-month sections. The following titles can be won during the CUP:
In order to win a title you need to earn the most points in a specific category, in each contest the following points can be earned:
Designers and betatesters are not allowed to compete in the contests they created, they can however compete in all other maps. For their efforts these people will get 10 points for their own contest (equal to a fifth place on Hard) If they wish to compete in an Easy-championship the designers/betatesters will get only 6 points (equal to a fifth place on Easy). For example, John has betatested the cleo speed map. He will be awarded with 10 points in the speed-championship for this contest. If he also wants to attempt to become Cleo-Easy champion, he will get only 6 points for that competition. For each championship there are a certain number of maps available and players can collect points in all contests. For their endscore only the best results will count. More specific, for the grand championship the best 12 results of the (possible) 24 contests will be counted. For the categories (speed, military, etc.) the best 4 of the 6 (possible) contests will count and in the Hard – Easy championships the best 3 out of (possible)4 are used. In this way players can still win, even if "Real Life" interfers, they hate specific categories, they don’t have/like specific CB games, etc. This also gives designers & testers the opportunity to compensate for the games they missed out and got free points for. In case two players end on the same amount of points, their individual rankings will provide the tiebreaker. The player with the most first places wins, or else with the most second, third etc. places until there is a difference. To clarify the scoring an example:
Players are allowed to play different classes (Hard or Easy) for each CB game. Even within a specific CB game you may enter different class-entries, but you are not allowed to run for more then one championship for that CB. So, you have to choose for either the Hard or the Easy Championship in a specific CB game. Suppose you want to go for the C3 Easy title, but you are very good in speed contests and want to go for the overall Speed championship. In this case, you are allowed to send in a hard entry for the C3 speed map. However the points you score with that map only count towards the speed title and are not valid for the C3 Easy championship. Sending in an additional C3 easy speed map is allowed and the points scored with this map will count for the C3 Easy championship. For the overall championships the score of the Hard entry will be used if you send an entry for both difficulty classes! This applies even if you score more points on the easy map, so carefully consider your strategy. To make life easier for the organization, we will request the players to put the competitions their entry is intended for in their comments, when they submit the game. This will help the sorting. The participants should also indicate on their submissions, a preferred date for resuming the cup. (August or September) During the contests the entries will be checked and sorted by the CBC team, at the end the designer and/or betatesters will do the final scoring with a little help from their friends. As soon as the results are available they will be put on a general scoreboard. So, people have some idea about their performance.
